Presentations and Projects:
Forgiving Those Who Hurt Us
June 26 - July 1, 2016
Directed by Dr. Cornelius Plantinga, Jr. (Former President of Calvin Seminary)
Seminar description:
The commandment to forgive is stringent in the New Testament, including by Jesus. But what, exactly, do we do when we forgive? What's involved in the "craft" of forgiveness? Do we forgive for the sake of the offender or for our own sake, so we can sleep nights? And, not least, why is the command so stringent? The seminar, guided by key readings, will address such questions, and others, on the way to clarifying forgiveness, a central part of good spiritual hygiene.
Sponsored by the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship with funding by Lilly Endowment, Inc.

Cruciform Humility in Christian Preaching and Worship
June 21-26, 2015
Led by Dr. Cornelius Plantinga, Jr. (Former President of Calvin Seminary)
This week long summer seminar, especially designed for preachers and worship planners, will focus on one of the great biblical virtues. Prominent in the life of Jesus Christ and in classic summons to Christian life, humility is part of the image of God and one of the ligaments of the Christian community. The seminar will situate humility as a species of wisdom, and will rescue humility from its currently decaying reputation, principally by contrasting humility with humiliation. It will also highlight the joys available only to those who gladly acknowledge God as their sovereign and other human beings as peers.
