This book is not a commentary although it does devote three chapters as "an orientation ... to [the] right approach to the book [of Exodus]." The author explores the background of the book, his insight on Exodus as literature, as history, and as God’s story. The last part (three chapters) entitled "Reading Exodus as a Christian" is interesting for Christians to read Exodus as it relates to the Christian living.
I would recommend this book as introductory reading to Exodus, good for college or Sunday school classes. The questions listed at the end of each chapters are helpful for understanding and discussion.
